DOE Approves Cameron and Carib LNG projects | Russell T. Rudy Energy LLC
The U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued its final approval for the Cameron LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), LLC and Carib Energy LLC projects to export to countries with whom we do not have Free Trade Agreements (FTA). These projects are located in Cameron Parish, LA, and Martin County, FL, respectively. This authorization is significant for two reasons. First, these were the first projects approved under the recently adopted DOE application process. Secondly, LNG exports to non-FTA nations had never been sanctioned before. With domestic natural gas production expected to reach over 74 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) by year-end, the DOE concluded that these exports would not compromise the economic, energy security or environmental interests of the U. S.
These approvals allow LNG exports for the next 20 years of 1.7 bcf/d for the Cameron project and .04 bcf/d for Carib.
