House to Hold Hearings on Crude Oil Export Ban | Russell T. Rudy Energy LLC
The U. S. House of Representatives subcommittee on energy and power, chaired by Ed Whitfield (R-KY), will hold hearings on the 1975 Energy Policy and Conservation Act on December 11. One of the provisions of the legislation was a ban on crude oil exports. In a press release, Whitfield said “We need to take a comprehensive look at where we came from, where we are today, and where we want to go from here.”
The crude export ban will become a hot topic in January when Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) takes over as Chairman of the Senate energy committee. She has been a long-time advocate for lifting the ban. While her counterpart in the House, Fred Upton (R-MI) is still undecided on the issue, senior committee member Joe Barton (R-TX) supports ending the ban.
The subcommittee will hear testimony from a number of energy experts, including Adam Sieminski, the chief of the Energy Information Administration.
