Pennsylvania Benefits from Oil & Gas Development | Russell T. Rudy Energy LLC
Citing an article in the “Pennsylvania Business Daily”, “Rigzone” reports that drilling, fracking and the consequent oil and gas production has resulted in jobs and funding for infrastructure in the state. While there is still some opposition, residents are becoming more receptive to drilling and completion activities. This acceptance is a relatively recent development according to the Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Natural Gas Association.
Oil and gas development has created more than 22,000 jobs in the Keystone State with salaries averaging more than $40,000 per year above the statewide mean. Further, state coffers have received more than $680 million from oil and gas activities. This is in stark contrast with neighboring New York where fracking bans have prevented development of the Marcellus and Utica shales which underlie both states.
